Disclaimer – Please do not get caught up in all of Jimmy’s good looks and read his whole story before deciding if he may be a fit for you.
What can we say about Big Jimmy? He is BIG and he is JIMMY, large and in charge, confident, and to the core his own unique dog. Yes, Jimmy is good with everything; kids, dogs, cats, people, cars, leashes, sit, stay, shake a paw, crates, farm animals, strangers, and the list goes on. But Jimmy loves these things with every ounce of his 100 pounds. Despite his trained manners and commands Jimmy still refuses to contain his excitement into our idea of proper behavior, he thinks flying at your chest full tilt is THE BEST way to say I missed you, and clearly bumping you with his open muzzle is THE ONLY way to say let’s play! His love is sometimes shown by black eyes, scratches or bruised extremities, but he really thinks it is all part of the game and this will not be changed, many have tried but this is just Jimmy’s personality. A consummate puppy despite being about 8 years old!
Unfortunately Big Jimmy has been adopted and returned several times so we are looking for his absolute perfect home with someone who understands and embraces his personality. Jimmy is not suited for a home with young children as he is simply too much for them, he also will need a fenced property or at least a dog run as he will wander. Another playful dog close to his size and a large yard would be necessary to help work out his daily energy, and he has ALOT of energy (note some dogs will not be okay with his level and style of play, his best bud Billy Martin loves it and really we find it hard to imagine these 2 not being together forever). And of course you must be open to Big Jimmy randomly flying at your face for kisses! (And yes, he waits until you least expect it, otherwise what fun would it be?)
Well, what can I say about myself? I am large and in charge and have quite the history. I have been adopted out a few times and returned, but please don’t feel sorry for me or think I am a bad dog. Quite the contrary actually, I am just too good. I am house-trained, leash-trained, love cats, kids and other dogs…. In fact I get along just great with just about any other animal.
I am 6 1/2 year-old male Shepherd/Lab-cross and my favorite thing in the world is…people! I love them soooo MUCH that I can’t control myself! I love them 100 miles an hour! Love them by throwing all 98 lbs of my body at them full tilt. I love to kiss their faces, and absolutely love to put all their extremities in my mouth. I have been to training classes, and have a very firm foster mom, but I just can’t help myself. Children and adults alike need to be mowed down and mauled by my LOVE.
I am going on 7 years old now and haven’t slowed down one bit. My foster mom says that if I didn’t have all these other dogs to play with I may LOVE her to death. If you need lots of loving, contact SCARS.
I’m a Sanctuary Animal
What’s a sanctuary animal? Sanctuary animals are permanent wards of SCARS due to medical conditions or behavioural issues and we are not likely to ever find an adoptive family.
SCARS is committed to giving these animals a home and the love, care and attention they deserve! We house them at our two main intake facilities.
We look to businesses to sponsor Sactuary Animals to help us offset the cost of housing them.
