Newest Update! Indio is doing well with city life, he enjoys walks and trips to the dog park (video). His foster dad says he has a hard time on slippery floors so would do best with carpet and not many stairs. Indio is an absolute gentleman.
Update now that Indio has moved to a foster home in Edmonton:
Two weeks in to Indio’s city adventure…. The car is a bit scary, but stairs are scarier. Indio goes for two walks a day and spends the rest of his time sleeping. He took a week to get used to being in a house, and he’s still not comfortable with stairs, though the three or so to get in the house are usually forgotten about. Other than that, he’s good with the dog and the cats all seem to like him. Now that he’s getting comfortable, he’ll come over and lean on you so you scratch his neck. That’s probably his favourite waking thing to do. Pretty pleasant guy, all in all.
Indio’s Intake story:
What can I say read the first paragraph if you want hear my story, skip to the second paragraph if you want the details.
Here go’s: altho I never met my foster mom before today I can say she is my favorite person on earth. Here’s why, I came to scars after being hit by a car, rumor had it i was a stray for a while, badda bing badda boom I get slammed by a car and I end up at the vet, some poking some prodding brought us to the conclusion I had a broken jaw (this is why my growls and snaps went as excused by pain) I was transferred to another vet, and it was discovered I had an injured jaw but not broken (now we are wondering about the earlier excused behavior). I Spent a week at the vet, now keep in mind, I am my own man, I come, I go, I pee when I want, I feed myself. Then I get “rescued” and this vet place keeps my in a walled box (large spacious kennel) then they walk me WALK ME, ME, on this rope (leash). And as if that’s not the worst they expected ME to poop with a friggin person standing right there. What kind of filthy animal poo’s on a rope in front of someone? I went on poo strike, and thusly got a little grumpier as the days passed. Finally someone called SCARS and said “Indio doesn’t want to be here” so my foster mom came and got me. I didn’t like her loading me, but she brought me to this yard, there are tons of my people (other dogs) and I have this big pen, and snow, and space and I can poo on my own without some creep staring at me and there are no ropes, and I get to make my own decisions, so I kiss her and come for pets and I want snuggles, cause she’s the bestest! (I’m Terra I’m actually just regular but I busted him outta jail)
Indi is a 9yr + old man, lab type mix, great with dogs and cats, would prefer roomy acreage or large yard and to never poo while on a rope with people watching.
