Hey I am Judy, but my foster family calls me Sugar Cookie (Cookie) – because I am just so damn sweet!

I fit right in. Love cuddles and human attention. I get so excited to see my people in the morning or when they return from work and school that my tail wag turns into a windmill. I love my canine foster brother and meeting other dogs on walks. I am house trained, relaxed, do well with car rides – I am just simply a very laid back young lady that loves receiving and giving love.

I am also told I am a stellar patient, which is good because I still have hip surgery ahead of me. I came into SCARS care with a gunshot wound resulting in the amputation of my front left leg (you can read my rescue story here). But then as soon as I arrived in foster care they noticed I was favoring my rear right leg and not bearing weight. X-rays show of a prior injury about 4-6mths old. My knee had been broken, my hip was severely compromised and my pelvis was shifted. The type of injury consistent with a blunt force trauma at significant force – so they suspect I was likely hit by a car months before I was shot. So I really already had only three functioning legs. I had been a silent tripod for some time before losing my front leg to the gunshot.

Hasn’t slowed me down much though, I’m social and love to play. I will receive her spay and hip surgery in February so I won’t be available for adoption until after that. Following surgery they say I will be pain free and able to start using that my leg again.

Please note: If other cats/dogs in your home are not spayed/neutered, we may deny your application. SCARS exists due to lack of spaying/neutering and it is our goal to end this cycle. If there is a documented medical reason for your animal to not be spayed/neutered, we will work with you.
