Update, Oct 27: “This morning, I groomed myself more thoroughly, paying more attention to details than I usually do. I don’t want the humans to think I don’t care about the way I look, and first impressions are key. I want them to see how independent and responsible I am.

I went about my regular morning routine, making my rounds to my foster family members and checking in on them to make sure they’ve made it through the night. Sometimes I worry about them sleeping so long. We exchanged brief back scratches and headbutts of love before I helped myself to breakfast and wandered off to the window to ensure the neighbours left for work on time. I kept my interactions brief in hopes that they wouldn’t have too hard of a time with our goodbye. It’s adoption week this week, afterall. I love my fosters dearly, but just as they have found theirs, it is time I find my forever home as well. I’ve bounced around from home to home so much in my short life, and I can’t wait to settle down at last.
I closed my eyes, and imagined my forever home: a permanent spot for my litterbox, a family who could take more time to get to know me inside and out, a permanent perch by a favourite window…preferably a warm one with lots of sunlight! I sighed. I can’t wait to get to know what my new family likes, too.
For now, I will sit and watch them get ready for their days, taking in every last moment with them. If I could love a foster family this much, I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of love I could have for a forever family.”
Lets find Marmalade and many other of our adoptable animals a HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

Update, Oct 3:

Small update on me, the jam guy. What, who wrote this? Small lesson before we get started I guess, and fire my writer. Jam is fruit and sugar. AKA sweet on sweet on sweet and that’s a little too much sweet. Marmalade is from a citrus base. So a quick run over of the facts, if you have a cat named Jam, please expect: Purple, super snuggley, super needy/sweet, nothing fancy cat, still has the seeds that get caught in your teeth. Now with a name Marmalade (me, lets not forget who this is about here), expect still that classic comfort because there are of course natural sugars still, but also thorough in a dash of surprise, of the citrus taste that keeps everything fresh. And of course a NORMAL cat colour, orange!

In other news, I now live with both a dog and a cat. I don’t care about the dog, but will defend myself if he wants to play. The house cat however, we have some issues to iron out. Nothing major! Its not that kind of ‘we need to talk’ conversation. We get along, but remember that fresh BAM here is the citrus? Well I like to play, a lot. With you, with the cat, I’m happy with both! But he doesn’t like to play, he keeps telling me he is too old for that stuff. I insist anyway, and my insisting has become more and more animated, so yes, other cats are awesome, but they need to be ready for someone feisty. Actually so do you, when I play, I kind of play rough and really go for it! As a result you need to watch your hands, I’m young and still learning to rules so my learning has to continue in my new home. Since I’m what my foster mom called ‘feisty’ I wouldn’t be suited for a family with young children, sorry, I just have so much pizzaz! Also to note, I love love love my food. So timed feedings might be a good idea for me, and you should probably make sure the cupboards are closed.

Hope you don’t pick that weird purple cat – Marmalade

Hi I’m Marmalade!

I’m new to SCARS and we don’t know a lot about my history. I must have been around people because I’m very comfortable with everyone. So far, I’m not really interested in the resident dogs, but I haven’t met the other cats yet. I’m probably a younger cat as I’m still very playful. I’m quite entertaining as I run around playing with my toys. I’m also very affectionate and will gently headbutt you to get your attention because I just want to curl up on your lap while you give me lots of pets.

More on me soon!

Please note: If other cats/dogs in your home are not spayed/neutered, we may deny your application. SCARS exists due to lack of spaying/neutering and it is our goal to end this cycle. If there is a documented medical reason for your animal to not be spayed/neutered, we will work with you.
