When we were notified about a small dog that had been injured by a larger dog, our volunteers hit the road for a pick up. The dog was hairy and squirmy. The owner hadn’t been able to do much of an exam. The injury was at least 5 days old. The volunteers were in a hurry to get her to the vet. So no one looked very closely at the damaged eye …. until the vet cleaned it up. It was horrific!! We will spare you the most gruesome picture that even shocked our medical professionals. As luck would have it, there was a Vet available that day (Saturday) to do an eye removal surgery instead of having to wait until Monday. Jasper is now recovering in a foster home. She should be available for adoption after her quarantine is done and we know more about her personality.
