Thank you so much to all of our supporters who came out to enjoy our first ever puppy yoga classes during March 2018. The fundraiser was a smashing success and we’re happy to announce that we raised over $1,300!
There were many laughs, lots of cuddles and puppy selfies, and perhaps a little yoga too!
A special thank you to Eleven Eleven Holistic Community in Sherwood Park for donating their space for the event!
All money raised will be going towards covering the expenses for a SCARS Alumni – Roxie. While Roxie was adopted over 1 year ago, we knew she would require a major surgery on her hip post adoption.
Roxie is a purebred German shepherd who came into SCARS with the worst case of hip Dysplasia that our vet team had ever seen. Roxie was surrendered to SCARS at eight months old due to her severe medical condition. Her family was unable to afford the care she needed and their only other option was euthanasia.
After coming into SCARS care, Roxie received the surgery she desperately needed on one hip. However, the vet knew that the day would come where she’d need her second hip done as well.
About a month ago, Roxie’s mom let us know that the time had come. She had been experiencing severe pain, and being the trooper she is, she was trying her best to cover it up.
Her surgery took place on Friday March 23. Roxie’s former foster mom is determined to raise all the funds needed to cover her surgery, a total cost of $1500. SCARS appreciates all donations so we can continue to help dogs like Roxie.
Thank you to @dthompsonphotography for these amazing photos.
