Welcome to the Critters & Cocktails: Bark to the Future Auction FAQ
Here you'll find answers to common questions about tickets, the event, online bidding, ReadySetAuction, payment and auction item pickup.
Whether you're joining us at Bark to the Future or bidding from home, you'll find the information you need below.
What is ReadySetAuction?
ReadySetAuction (RSA) is the online platform we use for all silent and live auction bidding.
It allows you to browse auction items, place bids from your phone or other device, receive notifications if you're outbid, and view and pay for items you win.
Each person who wishes to bid must create their own ReadySetAuction bidding account and register a credit or debit card.
How do I purchase tickets?
Purchase your tickets/QR Code online here.
After your purchase, you will receive your Ticket / QR Code by email. Your QR code is your ticket for event check-in and will show the number of admissions it includes.
If your QR code includes multiple admissions, the same QR code provides entry for all guests included with it. You are responsible for sharing the QR code with your guests before the event so they can present it when they arrive.
Guests who do not have the QR code can still check in by providing the name of the person who purchased the tickets. Having your QR code handy is helpful but not required.
If you need to purchase tickets offline, please call Mike or Laurel at 780-481-6142.
Do I need to register online in order to bid?
Yes, each person who wishes to bid must create their own ReadySetAuction bidding account.
Your account is used for both the silent and live auctions and allows you to place bids, receive outbid notifications, view items you've won and pay for your purchases.
You will also be asked to register a credit or debit card when creating your bidding account.
Why do I have to register a card to bid?
ReadySetAuction requires a credit card or Visa Debit / Debit Mastercard to be registered with your bidding account.
Your card will not be charged simply because you register it. If you win an item, you can check out online using your registered card or choose another available payment method.
How does the silent auction work?
The silent auction opens online two weeks before Bark to the Future and continues through the event.
Once bidding opens, registered bidders can browse auction items and place bids from any internet-connected device. You do not need to attend the gala to participate in the silent auction.
ReadySetAuction will notify you if you're outbid, and you can continue bidding until the silent auction closes.
How does the live auction work?
The live auction takes place during Bark to the Future and is exclusive to guests attending the event.
Live-auction bidding and purchases are recorded through the same ReadySetAuction account used for the silent auction, so each person who wishes to bid must have their own bidding account created in advance.
How do I pay for my items at the end of the night?
Your card will not be charged automatically. However, if you have not paid for your items by 5:00 p.m. November 14, 2026 or made other arrangements privately, your card will be charged for your winning items.
After the auction closes, you'll need to log in to your ReadySetAuction account to see which items you've won. From there, you can check yourself out and pay online.
If you're at the event, once payment is complete you can go directly to the pickup area to collect your items.
If you're not at the event, items may be picked up on Sunday, November 8, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Centre in Edmonton. If it's not possible for you to pick up at that time, contact us at 780-466-7227 or email scars@scarscare.ca to arrange pickup or delivery of your items.
If you prefer to pay by cash or cheque, please let us know before payment is processed so we can record it manually.
Items not picked up by November 14 will be charged for unless prior arrangements are made.
Items not picked up by November 20, 2026 will become the property of SCARS to be utilized or disposed of at SCARS' discretion.
I’m bidding from home — how do I get my items if I win?
If you're not attending the event, you'll still check yourself out and pay through your ReadySetAuction account.
Items may be picked up on Sunday, November 8, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Centre in Edmonton.
If it's not possible for you to pick up at that time, please contact us at 780-466-7227 or email scars@scarscare.ca to arrange pickup or delivery of your items.

I'm buying tickets for others, what do I need to do?
If you're purchasing tickets for other guests, you are responsible for sharing the appropriate Ticket / QR Code with them before the event.
Guests who plan to participate in the auction must each create their own ReadySetAuction bidding account before bidding begins.
What if I don’t know who my guests will be yet?
That's okay. You do not need to know all of your guests' names when you purchase your tickets.
Once you know who will be attending, please make sure your guests receive the appropriate Ticket / QR Code and remind anyone who plans to bid to create their own ReadySetAuction bidding account before the auction opens.
What do I need to check in at the event?
Your Ticket / QR Code is used for event check-in.
Your QR code will show the number of admissions it includes. If it includes multiple admissions, the same QR code can be shared with the guests included with it.
If you or one of your guests arrives without the QR code, don't worry. Provide the name of the person who purchased the tickets, and we'll locate the purchase and check you in.
At the Event Can I pay with cash or debit?
Yes. While we encourage bidders to check out through ReadySetAuction using their registered card, cash and debit payment will be available at the event if needed.
If you would like to use a different credit card, we can also assist you at checkout.
Using your registered card through ReadySetAuction is the quickest and easiest way to pay for your auction items and helps avoid lineups at the end of the evening.
What if I’m not comfortable with technology?
SCARS volunteers will be available at the event to help guests with ReadySetAuction, including creating or accessing accounts and placing bids.
We'll also have instructions and QR codes available at the event that link directly to the auction site.
