SCARS! I am ready for adoption. I am currently on restricted movements, medication and will need a check-up at the Westlock Vet Office in June 2020 – but other than that I am ready to find my forever home.
After a year filled with losses and tough times – over capacity, food shortage, animals we couldn’t save, days that we wondered how we could go on, we seek out glimmers of hope.  Those moments when we believe with our whole hearts that what we do matters.  Today was one of those days – today it was the best day!
A month ago Blackie came to us, in pain and unable to walk.   Two weeks for a diagnosis,  two weeks of treatment and finding the right combination of therapy, antibiotics,  painkillers and anti-inflammatories.   A month of hope, and worry and set backs and progress.  Still unable to get up on his own, still not walking, just unsteadily balancing himself on 3 legs……well until this morning that is, when with a little encouragement and alot of determination he not only stood up he then walked himself out to the treatment area where all the people were and found a spot to lay down and chill.  Jaws dropping, happy smiles, excited phone calls and maybe a few tears……we aren’t out of the woods yet but the glimmer of hope feels like a beacon of light.
I am not yet accepting applications yet, but think of me over this Holiday Season!
Please note: If other cats/dogs in your home are not spayed/neutered, we may deny your application. SCARS exists due to lack of spaying/neutering and it is our goal to end this cycle. If there is a documented medical reason for your animal to not be spayed/neutered, we will work with you.
