December 27, 2021 …. Out of the cold! 🥶 🌨 This little mom and her six babies arrived today and are lucky to have survived this freezing weather. How they made it this far, we don’t know but we are so grateful they did. She was keeping her family under an old truck for shelter. She’s a good mom and clearly has been giving everything she has to her babies. Now it’s time for her to rest with her babies in a warm bed with plenty of food. Though this mom and her babies are now safe there are many more that need help. Please consider fostering. Moms and puppies are especially hard to find foster homes for.💕 If you have an open spot please apply to become a foster family by emailing fosterprogram@scarscare.ca.💕 If you cannot foster but want to help consider donating scarscare.ca/donate.

January 7, 2022 update… We are sad to report that 3/6 puppies are currently at Westlock Veterinary Center with parvo. They all were showing symptoms in the early hours, so the foster home brought them into Aspen Trails Vet to get them tested. Once positive, we had to move them into isolation at Westlock. The rest of the puppies are being monitored in foster home with mom as she recovers from mild mastitis.
January 10 update… Just when we think we have beat the odds. Just when we think we are out of the woods. Just when we think happy days are here to stay……
…..Parvo. What an awful virus. It lurks everywhere and targets the young and the weak. We are both. Too young for vaccination and such a tough beginning, being born outside under a vehicle in this crushing cold. We are receiving the best possible supportive care. So far 5 of us are responding well to treatment. One of our litter is a lot sicker. No one is giving up hope, but it is a tough road ahead. Great care, hope, and resiliency. Our mom fought a battle to keep us alive through the cold, we are continuing the fight for our lives against Parvo. Keep us in your thoughts, at this point we need all the help we can get.To donate directly to these puppies medical bills, please go: www.scarscare.ca/donate.Thank you for all the support!
January 12 update…..Oh happiest of days! 🥰🥰 It is most definitely a feel good moment! We are home and back with our wonderful mom and our wonderful foster family. Back home safe in the arms of love. Positive for Parvo, but our foster home knew the signs and got us in for treatment right away. And we survived it, there was no way after mom kept us safe from the brutal cold, that we were going to let that virus take us down. We think we might be on more than our second chance, by now, but we’re just so happy to be feeling better…..and home with mom.
