About the program
Spay-Neuter-Return (SNR) is where we visit partner communities to offer free veterinary services. On request, we transport owned pets to one of our veterinary partners to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and micro chipped.
The pets spend one or more days recovering at the clinic and then we return them to their homes. Our goal is to prevent unwanted litters and enhance the overall well-being of owned pets. Because we help reduce the overall population of unwanted pets, we also enhance the safety and wellness of people in the community.

We need drivers to assist with our spay and neuter return (SNR) program. This is a commitment of six plus hours. We especially need people who are available during working hours Monday to Friday.

Providing needed vet care
Animals brought in for the Spay-Neuter-Return program often need medical attention as well. SCARS ensures all needed veterinary care is administered as part of the SNR program.
Our mission
To make a positive impact on animals and people by engaging with others to rescue and care for animals in need, share knowledge, and provide access to services and resources

Combined with Walls 4 Winter program
Combined with our Walls 4 Winter Program, we are able to privide much needed animal shelters for our SNR patients so they return home to warmth and comfort.
Preventing pet overpopulation is a big part of what we do. SCARS actively works within northern Alberta, partnering particularly with First Nations and Métis communities, where there can be a lack of accessible and/or affordable pet services.
Our Spay-Neuter-Return program provides spaying and neutering, vaccination and micro-chipping for owned pets, and our Walls 4 Winter program provides those who participate in SNR with an insulated pet shelter.
