October 28, 2022 Update…
Sadly we had to say goodbye to Lady last night. ❤️ She came in after being beat up by the other female dog in the yard. She was left for days with no treatment.
She was suffering from massive infection and had become anemic. We transferred her to Guardian Emergency where she received a blood transfusion, feeding tube and several medications. Though this helped, she was not getting better. Her white blood cell count was still very high, despite all the treatment. They suspected blood loss somewhere but could not figure out why; the vets suspected something else was going on, such as cancer. 😞 She could not stand, eat and had developed neurological symptoms. The vets involved did everything physically possible to save Lady and we thank them for that. It is heartbreaking to loose such a sweet senior girl. 💔
October 26, 2022 Update…
Lady is currently on her way to Guardian VCA Emergency for a blood transfusion. We don’t know what’s causing this infection, whether it’s the dog attack or any underlying issues. She’s also anemic. 🚑
October 25, 2022…
Another request for intake of a very injured dog. Another late night emergency.
We got a call about this older girl, who was clearly in distress. She had been beat up by another dog and just left for days with no medical treatment. She could not even stand up anymore. Not only is she fighting some serious infection from the attack, but her general body condition is not of a dog that was ever cared for. She is very thin, nails are terribly long, uterus infection, her coat is in terrible condition, she has what appears to be a mammary tumor, and a raging ear infection in both ears.
She is currently at the vet and will stay until she is stable enough to move to a foster home. We look forward to giving this girl the best care and attention she deserves. ❤️
